The Training for Work in Hazardous Areas / Explosive Atmospheres – NR-10 is designed to prepare professionals to work safely in hazardous areas by providing the essential knowledge required for personnel entering facilities classified as explosive atmospheres. The course develops participants’ understanding of safety obligations, operational procedures and the fundamental principles of explosion protection applicable to industrial facilities and equipment.

Following the program content and training requirements established for the Ex 000 and Ex 001 Skills Units of the Brazilian Association of Non-Destructive Testing and Inspection (ABENDI) certification manual, the course covers the identification of explosion risks, protection methods, work permit procedures, equipment operation, monitoring of hazardous atmospheres, inspection of Ex-certified equipment, documentation of non-conformities and the application of occupational health and safety procedures related to explosive atmospheres.

Participants will also learn about the different Ex protection types, their characteristics and applications, as well as the procedures required to maintain the integrity of equipment operating in hazardous environments.

Throughout the course, participants will gain practical and theoretical knowledge of the principles and procedures required for safe work in hazardous areas and explosive atmospheres. The training covers explosion risk identification, safety procedures, occupational health and safety responsibilities, operation of equipment installed in hazardous locations, work permits, monitoring systems, inspection and documentation procedures, identification of equipment non-conformities, and emergency response actions.

The course also provides an in-depth understanding of Ex-certified equipment, including the principles, characteristics and visual inspection requirements of the various Ex protection types, enabling professionals to recognize appropriate protection methods and contribute to safer industrial operations.
